Editorial Policy

The Editorial Policy of the scientific and technical journal Oil and Gas was approved by Order No. 01-6/19 of the Editorial Board dated January 15, 2016.

The Editorial Policy of the periodical Oil and Gas is closely associated with the ethics of scientific research. It primarily represents a set of moral principles that guide researchers in their professional activities.

The Editorial Office respects the rights of authors of manuscripts submitted for publication, as protected by the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan and international legal instruments.

The journal Oil and Gas is a scientific publication in Kazakhstan dedicated to issues related to the oil and gas sector and is included among peer-reviewed journals. Accordingly, its Editorial Board is required to adhere to a number of important ethical principles and organizational standards.

Authorship should be based on the following criteria:

1. making a significant contribution to the conception and design of the study, or to the analysis and interpretation of data;
2. drafting the article or making substantive revisions to its content;
3. approving the final version of the manuscript submitted for publication.

Authors submitting their work for publication in Oil and Gas must guarantee that their articles:

– are original and have not been previously published in other publications in their current or substantially similar form;

– are not under consideration by the editorial offices of other publications, and that all potential conflicts of interest related to authorship and publication of the submitted articles have been disclosed;

– do not infringe any existing copyrights; accordingly, the authors guarantee compensation to the publisher for any losses incurred in the event that such infringements are identified;

– for the purposes of facilitating the dissemination and use of the published materials and ensuring the implementation of the journal's materials-use policy, grant the publisher exclusive ownership rights to the manuscript, unless otherwise provided.

The following may be regarded as violations of research ethics:

– fabrication or falsification of data through the selective concealment of data and exclusion of undesirable results, as well as through manipulation of images or illustrations;

– making inaccurate or misleading statements in a cover letter or application for funding, including false statements concerning publications in which the work has appeared or works accepted for publication;

– infringement of the intellectual property rights of another author in relation to copyrighted works, significant scientific discoveries, hypotheses, theories, or research methods, including:

1. usurpation of scientific authorship or co-authorship (plagiarism), or the unjustified attribution of authorship or co-authorship;
2. the unauthorized appropriation, as determined by experts, of research methods and ideas (idea theft);
3. the unauthorized publication of, or granting third parties access to, unpublished works, findings, hypotheses, theories, or scientific methods;
4. falsification of content.

In accordance with the Editorial Policy of Oil and Gas, the following practices are unacceptable:

– verbatim copying of another person's work without acknowledging the author's contribution, citing the source, and using quotation marks;

– improper paraphrasing of another person's work, whereby more than one sentence within a single paragraph or section of text is altered, or sentences are rearranged without an appropriate citation to the source. Substantial improper paraphrasing without attribution is considered equivalent to verbatim copying;

– the use of elements of another person's work without proper attribution, such as a figure, table, or paragraph, without acknowledgement, citation of the source, or the use of quotation marks. Authors must obtain permission from the copyright holder to use elements of their work;

– self-plagiarism: authors must indicate that their work is being published for the first time. If elements of a manuscript have previously been published in another article, the authors must cite the earlier work, explain the substantial differences between the new work and the previous publication, and at the same time identify the relationship between the new work and the research results and conclusions presented in the earlier publication. Verbatim copying or paraphrasing of one's own previously published work is unacceptable.

Aims and Objectives of the Journal

The aim of the journal is to publish new scientific results of fundamental, applied, and exploratory research, as well as discussion papers, analytical articles, and reviews addressing topical scientific issues in the oil and gas sector, including the prospects and results of geological exploration for oil and gas; the conditions governing the formation and distribution of oil and gas fields; hard-to-recover reserves and unconventional sources of oil and gas; environmental issues; and challenges associated with the development of oil and gas fields.

The objectives of the journal are to publish original scientific research conducted by scientists, doctoral students, master's students, and researchers from higher education institutions and research organizations in Kazakhstan, the CIS countries, and other countries.

Posting Policy

When submitting an article, the author must confirm that the article has neither been published nor accepted for publication in another scientific journal.

Privacy

The names and email addresses entered on the journal's website will be used exclusively for the purposes specified by the journal and will not be used for any other purposes or disclosed to other individuals or organizations.

Copyright

The author consents to the processing of personal data. Authors retain the copyright to their work and grant the journal the right of first publication.
