History of the magazine
The first issue of Oil & Gas Magazine was published in 1996. Nadir Karimovich Nadirov, a member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan initiated the publication. At that time he was a member of the Council for Science and Engineering of the Ministry of Oil and Gas Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and in April 1996 he addressed addressed a proposal to the president of the Academy of Sciences, Minister of Science of Kazakhstan, Vladimir Sergeevich Shkolnik: on the threshold of the 100th anniversary of Kazakhstan's oil and gas industry (1999), and taking into account the unprecedented prospect of the sovereign state in the status of "oil nation", to establish a scientific and technical journal "Oil & Gas of Kazakhstan".
By resolution of the Praesidium of the Ministry of Science, the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan (order No. 209 dated October 13, 1998), the first four pilot issues of the magazine were published under the editorship of N.K. Nadirov as a special annex to the Reports of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan on terms of self-sustainability.
After successful, brief but intense period of formation, self-affirmation, and relevance, tests viability, in 1998, the scientific and technical journal renamed then to Oil & Gas was registered as a separate independent publication, as early as in
the first year, it gained the status of a prestigious and unique trade magazine with publication frequency 6 issues a year, with substantial circulation and author's design.

B.S. ZEILIK, a doctor of geological sciences, Professor, member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, the Academy of Mineral Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan |
Oil & Gas Magazine is first to publish pioneer scientific works, in particular, in 2009, it was one of the first publishing an article on the new technology of the of mineral deposits forecast including oil and gas fields. This technology is developed fully in Kazakhstan and is based on the paradigm of impact-explosive tectonics and extensive use of the latest structural information from remote sensing data. The technology is patented in Russia (Moscow) and in Kazakhstan. But information on the planet space protection aimed at the global survival published as well in Oil & Gas Magazine, No. 2 (74), 2013, is considered to be more important.
After publication of these seemingly controversial articles, researchers and practitioners have arrived at the conclusion on unambiguous validity and prospectivity of the given technology.

TRADITIONS THAT DEFINE THE ESSENCE OF OIL AND GAS PERIODICAL.
Any single category of human activity sooner or later acquires some traditional features, which reflect (define) its essence. I beg to take a closer look at, see and evaluate the main traditions that created the "identity" of the scientific and technical periodical Oil & Gas".
Tradition number 1. This is a team of high level professionals. Permanent editor-in-chief and talented editorial staff see, know, are able to, and every year make the scientific publication of increased quality, reliable, comprehensible and attractive in every way.
Tradition number 2. Everyone knows that ‘No living man all things can!’ But look through at least a dozen volumes of Oil & Gas. And you will not keep from surprising and being delighted with the incredible diversity of themed editorial classification of published materials! Editorial Board of the magazine, most likely, simply does not believe the above postulate. And this is wonderful! Tradition number 3. These pages are open for high-quality materials that reflect all aspects of the oil and gas industry (and not only this!). The Editorial Board respectfully and gratefully accept and release to the public domain both validated accurate information on exploration activity, on innovative technologies, methods and techniques, and ideas, which, according to the demand of the great physicist, are "mad enough" to become truth. Tradition number 4. This is an access blocked for those pulp-authors and inventors of ‘new geologies’, who swarm into all geological publications under a slogan: "Bear the round, roll the square!". Tradition number 5. This is very colourful, but not flashy design of the highest level corresponding to a specific topic and headings of each volume of the publication, and high quality printing quality of good scientific and information content. There are some suspicions that I saw not all the advantages of the best scientific and technical publication in this category in the Republic of Kazakhstan. I am careful to continue comparing it with the highest standards of similar publications, rating and so contributing to the progress of our national publication.
